There's Only One Penny Arcade

Dreaming of New York, 4 July - 19 July 2015, Horsfall Gallery. New York States Of Mind, 5 - 8 March 2015, Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces, Federation House, Manchester. I made a video work in tribute to the performer after reading her book “Bad Reputation” and learned one of Arcade’s performances by heart and mimed the whole thing on a self-made video, filmed in my bathroom mirror. When I sent the video to Penny Arcade, Arcade loved it, posted it on her own Facebook page and the resulting comments from her fans formed the basis of a new work that documents the remarks at the end of the video. Comments where both mixed questioning the use of Arcade’s original text to seeing the fan girl tribute, which was originally intended. Arcade herself commented "Well I have to say I LOVED this..so many people rip me off and do it badly...this is really good and I am proud of it. Thank you for representing me and my work. People are always telling me about some "young" penny arcade and it is so trite and so much tripe as there is no WORK in it...also I am very very rarely acknowledged in it. This is very in keeping with my standards and values. xoxo penny arcade.
